when you got caught driving DUI and you have kilos in the trunk and dirty guns and just ran two stop signs and your tags are bad and you license are bad and the cop pulls you over sees that's your very hot in that low cut top and short skirt and tells you to slow it down you almost ran over some kids in that school zone have a nice day that is a legal gift you could have been in a lot more trouble

A legal gift is something you give to someone through a lawyer. It's written down in a legally binding document. (So, it can't be taken back!) Unlike a promise given to you that you can have Granddad's piano after he's gone, but he doesn't put it in writing (ie a will) so there is no way you can claim the piano unless the other heirs believe you and are willing to let you have it.

if someone gives you a potted plant it is a legal gift.....if they give you pot in a baggie it is illegal...
