I agree we should should respect Steve Irwin's tragic death. Anyone, or any website that dares to show this event, should be locked up or shut down with immediate effect. This is not a computer game, but reality. The sick people who want to see this should seek help as soon as possible.

As far as I know , the video will not be released for viewing. I read a very good news article yesterday from and australian source that said that the footage is now in the hands of the coroner for purpose of study and the intension is that it will never be made public.

Why do people keep saying that it's disrespectful to the family or that the family doesn't want it shown? His family has said they DO want it shown in accordance with what he would have wanted.
Whether the authorities will actually release it is another matter.
BTW the footage has NOT been released yet. NONE of the sites listed in the answers have the actual clip.

As people have said, it is not out yet. It is with the authorities. However, the camera men who worked with Steve said that one of his hard and fast rules is that NO MATTER WHAT happens, DO NOT STOP FILMING.
When and if it gets released, that fact will certainly be all over the regular news stations.
Viewing this footage, to me, is akin to slowing down to look at a car accident.... you know it could be gory but you look anyway...
Maybe the real question is, if and when they release it, WOULD you look at it? Would you admit it?

They have not released it, his manager and I am sure his family wants it destroyed. You know, I wouldn't want to watch it, but in some ways it might help other students or divers in the future.....but as always, it would get into the wrong hands and used in some sick way instead of helping!
I am all for it never making it out of the police evidence room!!

I can't imagine the friends of Irwin who filmed his last moments would ever release it into the public domain, i wouldn't want to watch it if they did either.
