Some people, like me really dont eat what is considered a meal.
Going through my day I will have a small bowl of cereal in the morning. A few hours later maybe a banana (fruit of some sort). Later still cheese, olives, roll. Then maybe a packet of dried fruit and yogurt. We do have tea though as my partner works all day and is hungry when she comes home. This can be vegan or with meat depending on how I feel that day and what I want to cook.
How you eat is really based on your body. If you listen to what it says it will tell you what it is hungry for. We used to be hunters/gather-ers and I suppose thats how I eat most of the time.
I do think that 3 meals a day only makes your body have to adjust to its fuel consumption and the 5 or 6 smaller ones would be better.

I eat whenever I am hungry. Usually I don't have "meals". I just grab something. If that doesn't fill me up I grab something else. When I get hungry again I follow the same procedure. I guess I would fit in with the "5 small meals per day" category. Funny, even though you're eating often, you do end up eating less overall.

2 meals per day... medium lunch in the afternoon, and a large dinner at night. About 2-3 small snacks in between.
If you include the snacks as "small meals", then yeah I guess it could be considered 5 meals per day.
I've also heard of the trend that you speak of, supposedly it can help you lose weight.

Really I don't eat a big meal. I graze all day long. I maintain a healthy weight that way. Because you never get so hungry that you eat until you are sick. So yeah I would stick to eating more small meals a day rather than 3 bigger meals.

Well, at this time, I eat maybe once a day. Pain takes over the thinking of being hungry! But, I use to eat three meals, but my biggest was lunch! Dinner I had a salad. But, since I am injured and not working, I have gained weight, and I was told I need to start eating as then my metabolism will kick start..................I pray! But, I have learned, small meals all day long, with water, you will do great! (((((((BIG HUGS))))))))

I have 3 main meals a day - breakfast, lunch and dinner, my largest meal being in the evening as I work all day.
I also have healthy snacks in between like fruit or cereal bars, but do have the odd bag of crisps or chocolate bar sometimes.
