Yeah I think that they shouldn't pay equal prize money in tournaments such as grandslams where the men have to play more, if the women play the same like in just about every other tournament they should get the same. I also say thet the argument of men being stronger should not count, because this is also the reason men live shorter lives. And as for the idea that they have equal TV time. wrong, many more men's matches are televised, and their matches last for longer. As for another answerer's suggestionthat men and women play off. That is absolutely ridiculous a man ranked 1 000 could beat the woman No 1. I also beat girls and women at my club who have much higher rankings than me. besides which Sharapova is the highest paid tennis player! best tennis question in quite a while

SInce men play until 5 sets in the Grand Slams it's not fair for them not to get paid more. BUT still women are ASKED to play only until 3 sets since women are considered weaker than men. In other tournaments both men and women should have the same prize money.

I agree women should win the same amount of money (or very close) but not necessarily having to play 5 sets. Not everything can be measured like a taximeter. Women bring the same excitement, hell! I'd say women's tennis is more exciting than men's tennis nowadays and that is what should be awarded.
It is a fact that the muscular mass of a woman's body is less than a man's if women were forced to play 5 sets like men only those who look like Stallone in drag would win... not pretty.
(Should Federer win less because he usually plays only 3 sets?)

Yes definately next year with the new rules, men and women will be playing only 3 sets in a lot of tournaments, then the money should be and probably will be the same!

Well,i think if they started giving the same amount of money to women they might "run out of money".Well women players have been talking about getting their prize money increased to mens prize money. But they should be ready to play a best of 5 sets and i think they can't. Obviously, men have more power than women and if anyone objects they should have a manvs woman to see. But with the rising women powers they should increase the money.

It all depends on how great an effect they can generate on viewership and thus advertisement fees and sponsorships from corporations then only the prize money will be deduced based on previous match income generated

I do agree with you. The prize money should be the same if the requirements are the same.

I am a woman...and of course ..I want equal money..BUT..I don't think ..we should demand equal prize money unless we play equal games and sets.
