You can attach an MP3 file to your email. If you have a standalone email program (such as Outlook) you can just drop it in to the message. If you have web-based email (such as Yahoo) you need to attach it manually.
The file needs to be free of digital rights management (DRM). For instance, if you buy a song from ITunes and send it to someone via email, they won't be able to play it. However, if you buy an audio CD, and rip the CD to MP3s using a program such as Nero, you will be able to mail those MP3s to your friend by attaching them to an email.
