well, my 14 year old daughter is going to her first formal school dance, it's a homecoming. She is going with a kid that didn't ask her, they just decided to go. Anyway, today she baught a beautiful dress that's angle cut from a little lower than the knees and like ends at the ankles in the back.
the school is fairly large, around 5000 students. Do you think it will be too formal?
It's like a strech fabric..
I'd also like to know if a garter is appropriate?
Is it kind of racey?
Like suductive? or just normal tradition?
does it have a "screw me" vibe?
Where we used to live there was one dress shop and with every dress the lady sold a garter, so i always thought you wore one, but a women here told me that is too sexy for a 14 year old?

The kid she is going with doesn't have a lot of money and they are getting a limo because none of them can drive, and when he asked for money to go in the limo, his parents said to ride with a friend, should i pay for his part?

Mama. YOU do what you have to do for your kid!! SO get them share a LIMO---Here like 5 couples will share and is LOTS more fun... A garter is fine!!! WHO on earth would ever think a 14 year old in a guarder is SEXY??? other than some pervert!! The guys here puts them on around their arms---IS CUTE!! Her dress sounds lovely--- If the guy can't buy her a flower...YOU buy her one.... Spray a ton of Glitter in her hair--face--dress and send her on her way...THE ONLY thing that will MESS up the whole thing is TO high a hill shoe!!! kids just can't handle them for long.... Try a nice little satin dyed to match pump.. HOPE she has a ball!! lol Let us know how it comes out..... An old Jr. High School dance sponsor......

I don't think it would be too formal. But I wouldn't go with a garter, not only is it a bit racy, but also a bit to old for your daughter in my opinion. As for the limo, if it's a group thing and several people are going in the same limo, it might be okay to chip in his part so that they don't feel left out. If it is just for the two of them, I think it might be more appropriate for you to drive them yourselves. Just my opinion on it.

Yup, a Garter is pretty skanky. And way inappropriate four a 14-year old. Even if girls don't think it's skanky, it definately tells a guy otherwise. A garter says hooker all over it, or skanky langerie. You don't want a 14-year old in langerie.

And you should totally pay for the kid's ride. It's a one-time thing, a big event, it's not like you're paying for his life.

Hit thrift stores, so many proms just happened, so there is probably an overflow of prom dresses there. I saw only a few before the prom season, but if I went today there would be so many.
