is it worth burning up your computer for the little bit of speed you will gain, you probably wont even notice a difference. There are alot of things to take into consideration before doing that such as putting in place better cooling among other things, be carefull

There is a way to do by making changes in the BIOS, however, the newer Intel chips will not allow overclocking. There is a formula which states that the faster the clock cycle the more heat is dissipated by the device. This heat over time degrades the performance and eventually leads to failur of the device due to early wear out mechanisms. The Semiconductor companies spend millions studying this and base their warranty periods from their reliability testing.

Over clocking of the CPU can cause serious damage to the CPU the BIOS setting should be set to Auto the Cpu will then set the clock speed as needed by the application needing it

That totally depends on what mobo you have! You may find tools in the bios to do this but beware, you are risking possible failure of your processor! It will run hotter! To begin with, the difference in how your system will operate will probably be unnoticeable! If your system is too slow for you its probably due to you running too much crap in the background or you are one of the many who insist on using p2p sites and your system is infected with adware!
