Absent peace, it is hard to make the investments in capital plant and infrastructure that are needed to develop a modern economy. Look at Lebanon: the country just finished rebuilding after a civil war, and now billions of dollars worth of construction is needed to fix war damage. That is money that will not be invested in machines and infrastructure.

For one, it allows countries to apply their resources to constructive projects rather than destructive actions.

The state of war, tends to distract people from doing productive activities, and focus them on something else.

There is a time for war and a time for peace. War should never be the first tool one reaches for to resolve a problem, but at some time does become necessary.

Because its almost impossible to get your basic needs let alone wants when you are not in a state of peace. Anyone who is being hunted would be a fool if they said they enjoyed it and had a sense of belonging in this world. And thats basicaly what war is hunting trying to gather resorces and keep them from your enemys. The question is what makes another man your enemy?

Because people don't die!

War is governments last resort of problem solving, and a very poor one at that as history has shown!

These days we go to war for corporate interest, and quite frankly, they are the problem!
