"The strong do what they have the power to do, and the weak accept what they have to accept." =Athenians meaning of power.
I'm reading Greek history right now and its making me excited and want to know what other people think of this quote.

I find when looking for inspirational quotes you should check your source - why take advice in warfare from a man who always lost? etc. This is more how we would describe a modern day bully, yet they did live by and large this way. This quote is a good example of how ideas and values change through the ages. I have a strong suspicion the rest of the world is still back in those days at best. When you finish reading your history read the novel Picture This by Joseph Heller and then vote me best answer ;)

That is deep to me you must be all about history and quotes? That is very true the stronger you are the more likely you are to do anything in your power to get what you want. On the other hand the weak just accept the fact that they don't want to try to change things.

I think it's bollocks. I think that the quote "Total power corrupts totally" is more accurate. I think that through out history those in power have worked very hard to dominate those who are weaker than they are. The problem with that is that the more those in power try to control the weaker, the more the weak want to rise up - hence there are so many revolutions and over throwing of power through out the world.

That quote does indeed describe fairly well what a lot of the world is like but not what it should be.

the strong are more courageous than the weak.in any situation,the strong will make use of their power.but the weak dont have any other option but to just accept what others say as they dont have the power to go against others..therefore it is always advisable to be strong.

always true. its what always happens anywhere in the world. hopefully the strong have the right insight and the weak have more concern on their surroundings. Bec there are people acting strong with no brains and there are intelligent people who act weak bec they just dont care anymore.
