If you want something traditional and "normal" go with Michael, John, Mark, Matthew, Robert, James, etc. Those are common and have nicknames (Robert = Bob, Rob, Bobby, etc.) For more suggestions try a baby name book or web site on baby names.

I think you should buy a book on names and look up the meanings and decide for yourself what has the most meaning or importance to you or ask someone who knows you well what name would suit you

I would suggest going with something similar to your chinese name either in spelling or in pronunciation. If you would have given us how to spell your first name and/or pronunciation it would have helped (not your last name though... that would be bad, bad)

We had a Friend from Thailand been a long time. His name was Tai Nguyen something like that. We called him Ted Nugent.
