Depends what mirror. Your side mirrors are for when you are swithing lanes and need to see if there is a car there. Your rear veiw mirror (the one on the front windshield) is to see directly behind you. It's useful to know if someone is directly behind you if you're slowing down. The mirror on the sun visor is to know if you have something in your teeth.
