How many, through all of our insults about political preference and siding with our politcal parties. Did anyone stop to remember how things like that didn't really matter that much 5 years ago today? Republicans and democrats alike, how many took the time to remember?

I remember the day like it was yesterday, I live in Ohio and no i didn't loose any loved ones or friends and i thank god for that. These past 5 years has been horrible for the united states. I think of these people who died in new york all the time and wonder how their families are surviving with out them. I wonder will New York ever be the same.Probably not, and for great reason. I watched everything on TV yesterday about 9/11 and it broke my heart to see the people have to relive that again. That was a tragedy a tragedy that could of been prevented and the lose of so many lives could of been prevented..I seen the look in the children's eyes when they spoke of a parent that they lost and will never get to meet because their mother was pregnant with them on 9/11.So yes i cried a tear for them yesterday. And i do on occasion when i stop and think about the heart ache that spreads through new york
But i also stopped and thought about new Orleans. That was a tragedy also. But i don't recall bush going down there to place a reef on the levies that broke. But i might be wrong.I might of missed that one. That was also another tragedy that could of been prevented, even bush knew about the conditions of the levies and knew the possibility of a break. So many live could of been saved if just one person would of said ok lets fix that before it becomes a problem. It devastated so many lives and so many towns was ruined and they are still trying to salvage their homes and lives to this day..It wasnt just a couple of blocks that was destroyed it was a whole culture. Thousands of lives was affected by this one hurrican. Thousands of home and buildings was ruined. There are still people who cant come home because they dont have a home or family to come back too. So to answer your question yes i stopped and thought about all the the people america has lost since 9/11...the men and women who lost their lives to fight for my sons safty, the police and firemen who lost their lives to save the people of the world trade center, the people who lost their lives after the hurrican, the people who starved to death after the hurrican. i can go on about how many americans died since 9/11 and i would give anything to go back to how it was before 9/11, but thats not possible..but how do these people heal from their lost..I dont know, I wish i had the answers for them. I also wish America would pulled together like we did after 9/11 we was one nation and we even loved our neighbors..

The victims of 9/11 (and their families) have been on my mind all day today. I haven't forgotten what that horrible day was like and how people pulled together in the face of all that tragedy.

You make it sound like we've been allowed to forget for one single second in the past five years. Next year, let's have a role call for the Iraqi dead too.
