The extremely low temperatures would preclude life as temperatures would be approachind adsolute zero. This would mean no chemical reactions and no life.

We don't know.
For certain we've found no planets that can currently support our type of life forms.
But for all we know, there could be sodium based life forms living off of lithium on Planet X beyond Pluto. We have no idea.

We don't really know. If we're talking about our kind of life-forms (with carbon and oxygen), it's very controversial. But other unkown kinds of life-forms may exist.
