At least you can rest assured you will never have mice in your house. When a neighbor captured all the feral cats in our neighborhood, mice started coming into our homes because there were no longer any predators to keep them under control. The neighbor moved away and after awhile, the feral cat population re-established itself and then no more complaints about mice in the homes.
Just don't leave your doors open for the cats to establish themselves in your house or garage. Because then you might have to bait a trap to get rid of them.

Purchase cat repellent spray in the pet store or garden center. Sprinkle hot pepper also on shrubs and bushes in conjunction with the spray repellent. Reapply after heavy rain..Good luck.

Try spraying ammonia around your house. Cats can't stand the smell. Also, most stores sell pet repellents that keeps certain animals away cause they can't stand the smell

There are electronic pet door that will keep out strays and only let your pets come in (search in Ebay under "electronic pet door"). Unfortunately they are rather expensive ($200 or more).

Cats have a mind of their own. I understand that it is almost useless to scold them because they just don't understand what is going on. They just get their feelings hurt and the problem worsens. I just leave them be.

Stop inviting them over.
Seriously you can try marigolds or eucalyptus - cats don't like either and humans sure do.
