freewill is what you choose on the inside, fate is what happens on the outside. you make your own choices, remembering that when you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice. that's freewill. all choices have consequences, good and bad, that's fate. letting others choose for you can also be fate, when it's your fate to deal the consequences of their choices. standing up for yourself and making your owns choices is choosing to exercise your freewill, allowing things to happen is choosing to let fate run your life.

Fate seems universal and free will specific. We are all bound by fate but our free will is part of that fate specific to us as individuals. No two persons have the same free will and yet many persons may share the same fate.

We all are part of a cosmic world. Everything has been programmed to occur in a sequence. So whatever that comes before us is a sequence of incidents we call fate. That is due to occur we agree with it or not. That is fate. Our individual effort to try to 'make' or 'happen' things our way is ' free will'. In fact, a relationship of our efforts and fate is observed but it can not necessarily be always in positive. Will to do is 'choice', fate is 'mandatory occurence'!

It is our fate to eventually die and leave this mortal coil. How we meet that fate is determined by our freewill.
This had to be part of a movie or book or something or a combination thereof. There is no way I could ever think of something that deep.

we all have the freedom of choice, yes... and it's this choice that leads us to our fate...
remember, all our choices have a corresponding fate awaiting us. whatever we pick, we also pick whatever fate awaits there.
it's like you are the driver... the road is you life. now, comes a spot where many roads may lead to to your destination (one longer than the other route) - the choice (freewill) is now laid upon you. where will you turn? which road must be chosen? and your destination is fate awaiting you... ciao...

I believe that God has a purpose for each of us---lessons to learn--fate if you want to call it that. He gives us free will to choose to learn the necessary lessons....repeatedly offering us the opportunity to make the right choice. Wrong choice, more lessons (fate) free will until we do it right. Great question!! I'll pray that you receive more guidance.

I don't see the relationship. Fate is happenstance, free will has nothing to do with it. I can chose to exercise my free will all I want but things out of my control will still occur

there is no fate....people say " fate" AFTER something happens, good or bad. Free will is simply making a choice on what happens in your life then and now. anything after that is precognition...and a bit silly.

How about a generalized Fate, based not so much on specific actions, but on our character. Easier to work with, i think.

There are obvious end results like win lose, reward punishment, success fail. Its what you choose put of your free will that determines your fate.
