I've never heard of it - but I googled it and found this cool website about it...
They call it the Lee Penny on this website, and apparently it had the power to heal people and cattle.

It would be a Lockhart talisman.

Traditionally, you would need to pour water over it and collect it in a silver container. Though these days most people simply drop the penny in to a silver container already containing a small amount of water and leave it overnight for consumption the following morning.

The "penny" should look like a foreign coin - one from the lower empire - with a radiant stone embedded in it, although most people now use a silver disc in to which is embedded a small agate.

The ritual results in a febrifuge - it will keep away fevers and will stop bleeding. Agate immersed in clean water kept in a silver container overnight is still used by women in some parts of Scotland as a relief from the curse.

Sometimes, if guidance is needed, the processes is reveresed. The agate is dropped in to clean water in the morning and left to stand all day. Then it is consumed before you lay down to sleep. This will bring the dream world closer to you free of the fears that live there.

Or so they say :o)
