As a Bush supporter I am not delighted. I did vote for him, and do not like everything that he has done. After that horrible day, I saw for a couple of weeks a nation that stood by each other in a compassionate way. We stood together for a brief moment.
As with any President....he did what he thought was right. If he wouldn't have done anything he would be wrong for not doing enough!
I do agree that there are hurting souls out there, and I wish we could stand together again before something terrible happens. I wish all the fighting and wars would stop. I wish all the pointing fingers would stop. I also wish the government would put more care into our country versus the concentration of helping other countries.......that seems to have gotten worse!

I don't feel, I know, that nothing has changed in the US, or if it has, things are worse than before 2001.
1) Civil rights in the US are being destroyed.
2) A budget surplus was turned into deficit in record time and the US dollar lost a quarter of its value.
3) Genocide and war crimes have been perpetrated without any questions asked, resulting in anywhere from 100,000-500,000 killed by the Chimp's policies.
4) Corporate fascism, as Benito Mussolini described it, is the model for government and business in the US.
5) The Chimp refused to sign Kyoto and has legalized unfathomable amounts of toxic pollution into the environment. He has made it possible for polluters to cause more damage than all previous presidents combined.
6) US foreign policy, the *cause* of 9/11, has gotten worse. The US is STILL doing things for its own benefit at the expense of people in other nations and acts surprised that people are angry. Just like any addict, or any thug, or any abuser, the US isn't going to wake up and face reality until it's too late.
The US *caused* 9/11. It was not an unprovoked act.

For most of the rest of the world it's embarrassing to see how much the americans make of this one disaster which destroyed two buildings and 3000 people.
To put this into perspective, the Israelis destroyed far more buildings in their recent attack on Lebanon and 3000 dead people are unfortunately a drop in the ocean compared to the many thousands of americans murdered by their compatriots every year. Can you imagine how many people have been murdered in the past five years by their fellow citizens? It is over 100 thousand. Why don't people have memorial days for them.
Just make a list of all the disasters in the past few years, like Afghanistan, Iraq, Darfur, the Asian Tsunami and various earthquakes, you will see that 3000 is pretty small compared with that death toll.

Five years ago, I had suspicions on who really was responsible. I, like many people, were afraid to voice those feeling for fear of being unpatriotic. It was a terrible shock and trauma for the whole world; but 5 years later, we are still waiting for answers. We would like tapes, recordings and films that have been held back released.

It's almost like that was the day the world changed. Nothing will ever be the same again. There are people out there who want to absolutely destroy America. I am confused, but not afraid. I am a Christian woman who trusts God in all things.
I think of those whose hearts today are freshly wounded at their losses. I pray for them and I pray for God to help us, as a nation, seek Him and trust Him.
