Definaltly a local band, preferably a cover band. I know that is one of my favorite things about going to a good bar is listening to live music, other than the drinking of course. Also happy hour or some sort of discount. Who doesn't like cheap drinks. Good luck!!

Not sure if you have a kitchen or not, but special events like Steak Night coupled with a beer special and some basic advertising are simple and word of mouth spreads with the locals. Just don't skimp on quality with the meat, look at it as an investment to get people doing what you really want them to....drink alot and tip well.

my idea is to get madden 07 and run simulations all week between the real games. Post up a schedule. If you are in a football town, that's even better. Have the "all time" team vs modern teams. In madden, all the all time teams will destroy any modern team.

Another idea is to show old games during the week. They're pretty cheap, maybe 20 bucks a video from nfl films.

Have sports on TV. Throw little themed bar parties for holidays or special events.

Consider getting a big screen TV and a game console. Play football games every Monday and Thursday nights, and let people play videogames Tuesday and Wednesday.

Allow "jam sessions" by local aspiring musicians.

If you have one night that is always slow, try karaoke. It worked for me when I lived in Wyoming. I helped a bar recover from previous bad management by introducing "wholesome" entertainment.
