Hmmm. I am an accountant that worked in public accounting for 13 years. So, I guess my answer would be 'yes' since I take my taxes to myself.

Personally I have had my taxes done by someone else twice in 30 years I have filed. Basically the two times were when I had something new in my life that I wasn't sure about, first house was one. And just wanted to make sure I understood what was needed. Then I studyed what was needed and did it the next year myself. These days I use TurboTax and I'm pretty good at it so I don't think I will need that kind of help again.

if it's your personal taxes, go to a tax perp service. if it's for your business, you probably want to use a bookeeping/tax company or a tax prep service that has a business tax preparer on staff. An accountant will charge you by the hour, a preparer will charge you by the amount of documents it required to file and complete your taxes.

if you do anything other than the simple form (which you have only one income check coming in and no children), then for sure I would hire H&R Block to do it for me.
