Stupider. Nowadays they're too busy talking on their cell phones and snorting cocaine to bother learning anything new.

In the 1700s, a person's class would have a great deal of influence over their education. Education though, is not the basis for intelligence, then or now. People are people, all through history. People come in varying intelligence, then and now.

I don't people had much to do then but learn. People were more disciplined to do well then, also if you didn't make an effort you would die. Now days some of us take everything for granted and choice to be dumb, but if we make any effort at all we have the ability to be very smart.
The whole world and universe is open to us, no more guessing about it.
