It's a basic laptop, will do most things you want to.
With only 512 MB of RAM , you wont be doing any heavy duty gaming on it. Doesn't say what kind of processor.
Also, it looks like it only had DVD-rom, not a DVD writer.

It should be a good laptop for school or office use, internet use and just about anything, except gaming or heavy graphics use.

Do some research on Best Buy, like at epinions, before you buy there. If it still looks good to you, go for it.

Just as a comparison, I got a laptop a few months back for $700 at Circuit City (its a Gateway), that has 80GB HD, 1GB RAM, 1.86 ghz AMD Turion 64 processor, CD/DVD writer, and everything else this one you listed has. And CC has a better rep than BB. Just FYI.

You want at least 1 GB RAM if you do any gaming or graphics.

I think GHz is all about speed. And dual processors are the best for speed as well. But the more GHz the faster the processor. My computer is 2.87 but it was about 2 thousand dollars. Depends what you're doing on it too. If you're doing a lot of gaming then you need more, but if you're just using it for normal student or home office use that should be good. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Use this only for schoolwork. Sounds like the processor is celeron. OK chip - but not CLOSE to the fastest Intel offers - see you got the slower HD - still, fast enough for schoolwork. RAM is enough.

WordPerfect is what Word wishes it could be, but the "world" uses Word. You being a student, MS Office [Word, Excel, PowerPoint] will cost about half what it would cost me ($400+).

If you're familiar w/ WP, enjoy,
