sore throats are no fun....
try gargling with some warm salt water (2 tsp of salt to 8oz water). also sucking on ice cubes might offer temporary relief
you can also try sore throat spray but it's temporary.tylenol should help with the pain but motrin works best b/c it has an anti-inflammatory in it to help reduce swelling. take 200-400mg every 6 hours but no more than 1200mg in 24 hours.
you can also try drinking warm tea with honey-this always makes me feel better.
make an appt to see your doctor if:
-you begin to run a fever of 101 or higher
-your sore throat worsens to the point where you are having trouble breathing or can hardly swallow anything
-you are able to see white patches or spots on the back of your throat
these are all symptoms of strep throat and you'll need antibiotics to treat it and it's highly contagious.

Gargle with warm water salt water. Nuke a cup of water and add a table spoon or so of regular table salt, let it dissolve and then gargle at least eight times for 30 seconds each time. Just make sure the water isnt scalding!!
If that doesnt work, go to a 24 hr Walgreens and plan on calling in sick for work.
Get well soon.

Take erythromycin. Or boil ginger root and gurgle the juice (let it cool down first, don't gurgle hot juice). If tylenol doesn't work, increase the dosage, try taking 3 caplets instead of two. Drinking cold liquid will make it worse.

Probably the worst thing to do is drink milk. Gargle with salt water. That should help.

I thought you were supposed to drink warm milk to help with sleep. YOu can also mix in some vanilla flavoring with it. If you have lavendar essential oils or powder, sprinkle some on your pillow. Also, read a dreadfully boring book. You'll be out in minutes. Works for me everytime.

I had terrible sorethroat 2 weeks ago. Couldn't sleep well for a whole week.
The salt water gargling helps. But you can also try syrups containing peppermint. It helps relieve the pain temporarily. It helped me better than the salt water did.
But please, please do visit the doctor tomorrow! I thought my sorethroat would be okay in a week but I suffered 2 weeks , finally went to the doctor and got him mad at me for that.
lol
Hope you feel better soon
p.s -> no cold drink!!!!!!!!!
