Charles Barbier invented a thing called "night writing" as per Napoleon Boneparte's demand for a way for the soliders to communicate at night, but it was too complicated for them to learn. Years later, Louis Braille, a french man identified the problems with the code, modified it to be much simpler to read in a six dot format, and the rest is history!

Louis Braille was a Frenchman who had been blinded at a young age when he was playing in his father's shop and accidentally stuck an awl through his eye. He went on to create Braille writing.

I thought Helen Keller did. Or maybe she invented a more advanced version. I do know she invented something with braille.
