Whether you like it or not, oil is a matter of national security. Our country would shut down without it, and we would have no military to protect us without it. Sure we would still have plenty of soldiers, but no vehicles to transport them, and no communications (because electricity would run out as quickly as the oil did) to direct them. So, yes sometimes we have to make unpopular decisions to protect that resource. Live with it, or develop another fuel source for our industrial machinery.

Lets remember why we established ourselves as one of the "big" powers this world has to offer. World War II was when we set ourselves apart from everyother nation in the pure manner of fighting on foreign grounds for the simple fact of protect our assets on our home lands. Whether economical, environmental, or for the pure sake of saving american life this was what FDR saw as our only option.
I admit that yes we did stick our hands in multiple traps that we shouldn't have been, aka Vietnam War and Bay of Pigs, but as for the War on Terrorism there isn't a better path that could have been taken. President Bush is not the one to blame it is our pure economical structure and way of communication that allowed 9-11 to happen and we have learned from this in many multitudes. Our military is stronger, our economy is rising, and progress is being seen made in many sectors of the government. We must remember that time moves faster than we can act, in saying this I give credit for all of the measures that have and will be taken. We are a safer place now and will continue to be as long as conflict are fought away from our borders.

We fight abroad to protect interests at home. Also, being the superpower of the world gives us a responsibility to fight abroad. This unfortunately is a catch-22 because if we don't fight abroad we are negligent and don't care. But, if we do fight (like we are now) people accuse us of doings terrible things and putting our noses into peoples business. The average American doesn't understand this concept though.

It's a cowards tactic to avoid what desperately needs to be addressed domestically (like the health care system) and it's an imperialistic arrogance that they are the law of the world. It sucks, doesn't it!
Oh yeah and it's a testosterone laden guy thing too. Women would never even remotely consider such things!

A misplaced sense of honor and service. Too many people feel we must be the world's policeman.

It is time to let the world fend for itself. The US should only defend US interests and see if people like that better.

they do their best to bring the fight to us. We've been infinetly patient with these insane assholes that want to kill us. They bombed the towers before 9-11, they bombed an embessay, and they bombed one of our naval ships. Enough is enough, they've been taking the fight to us to the best of their ability for years. We barely flexed in their home turf and watch everybody freak out.
