I'm sure this situation really stresses you out.
It might be time to take a long, hard look at your expectations here. You already have a relationship and child with someone you love and enjoy. Getting married doesn't change any of that. You are choosing to be non-content with your life as it currently is...yet you really already have what you want. Don't let society (and it's pressures on "everyone should be married") distract you from that which is right in front of you.

You have been together for 5years & have a child together. I've got news for you honey. You guys ARE married. It's called "Common Law". These days the courts are recognizing common law marriages & are enforcing the covenants of marriage on them the same as an official marriage.
Your BF may think he's single, but those days are long past, 'cause you guys went & brought a kid into the picture.
At this point, the ceremony, the certificate, the church, the minister are all just a technicality. It would be nice if he would take the last little step. But marriage wise, you are in it.

Sounds to me as if he doesn't WANT to get married. If being together for 5 years and having a child hasn't caused him to WANT to get married I pretty much doubt he is ever going to ask you. You should have thought about that a long time ago...like before you got pregnant. Just because YOU want to get married doesn't he DOES.

Maybe he dosnt want to get married, I mean he has everything that a married guy has, children, sex when he wants it.....why should he get married. If your serious about wanting to get married, give him the ultimatum because for the last 5 years, you've given him everything without the responsibility of a marriage certificate.

Just let him decide on his own time. He may be wanting to surprise you but if you keep asking then he may be hesitant to ask. Just imagine that diamond on your finger and the perfect moment when he proposes. That'll help you out. :D

every time you start thinking about it, remind yourself that the more often you ask him and the more pressure he feels, the more aggrevated he is going to get, and the longer it will be...if you hadn't been asking and asking when, when, when, he might have already....
