I think Metallica were the first heavy band to get a grammy or whatever it is that they give to groups, and that was in 1990 or something!

Im surprised that AC/DC didnt get anything for the 'thunderstruck album that had heaps of hits of that.

Back in Black! rock on!

I think a lot of the people voting for awards overthink their own intellect, and are too embarassed to admit that they like AC/DC - they don't understand the difference between "Stoopid" and true stupidity (which also explains The Ramones' empty mantlepieces)

Probably because when they were in their prime, heavy metal (or heavy rock) wasn't really considered as a legitimate "Awardable" style of music... They were pioneers. Also, it's much easier to sell "Stairway to Heaven" to the masses than "Highway to Hell".

It is simple. AC/DC chose a poor name in terms of marketing? (jk)

Their music lyrics also do not reach a broad span of the population ie/are unrelatable.
Maybe they should have written sappier lyrics as Elvis had. "Love me tender...blah blah blah..."

Sometimes, when I have a question as above, I actually poll my peers or close friends for a cross selection of answers and I find my answers or better yet, make my own conclusion!

Best wishes.

The band is good, it doesn't need any awards to prove it.
