I was born and bred in Yorkshire. I have lived in Devon for 12 years.
The other day I politely asked a man to move his van as it was blocking my driveway. He said he was loading so wait! I waited and waited and asked him nicely how long he was going to be!
I was met with a barrage of verbal abuse, name-calling, swearing etc; you know...the usual, but then...get this...he told me to go back to where I came from!
I'm still amused by that now. It felt weird at the time!
What do you make of that then?

The driver is the boss of the company. I rang the phone number!
I am moving soon and I'm contemplating sending him out on several fools errands soon!...if I can be bothered.
Yeah, it's ironic....I arranged to move 'back to where I came from' a few months ago!

with any luck there was a phone number on his van. find out where he is and go to his van when it's unattended. remove the valve caps from his tyres and fill the valves with superglue. He'll only find out months, maybe years later. I did this to a wanker neighbour a few years back - it cost him more to fix it than the value of his vehicle.

In the States, doing so is illegal. If it was a commercial truck, you should call the company and politely explain what happened and that you expect it never to happen again. If not, should this idiot ever show up again or a similar person, call the police. Better yet if you noted distinctive markings so that you can file a police report still.
If the vehicle was broke down, it's understandable it'd be difficult to move it quickly. However, it's his own "dern" fault he parked in front of your driveway and should have a lot more respect (and even a broke truck doesn't make up for bad manners).

If I were you, I would have included the name of the company.
If you know people who are about to move, tell them not to use that moving company.
Write to your local newspaper about your experience, maybe they will add it as an editorial bit.
Where I live, even the local television channels will do a "On your side" bit when encountering bad behaviors by businesses.

I think he sounds a real arrogant jerk who needs more than fools errands for his comeuppance, but been a Yorkshire lass myself I would say come home all is forgiven and don't let his sort upset you for too long because he sure ain't worth the worry is he.

That's kinda funny..in a way. I'm American and the distance you moved would be considered the same area here. You're probably the same race too so it's not like you're really standing out from the crowd. Strange world, isn't it?

Call the cops and tell them that he won't move his car, and if he doesn't, threaten to have it towed.
