There is no benefit whatsoever other than having one truly friendly nation on our side in the middle east. Honestly, i find it hard supporting a country that was given to a group of people because of terrible atrocities committed against them during WWII. It would be the same thing as Lincoln giving the slaves the southwest united states after the civil war as reparations for years of slavery,but thereby displacing the true owners of the land, the indians.

Normally I would say that we are supporting a democracy in that region, but after hearing what one of the far right Israeli reps said today...whew...

we give them billions each year so that we dont have to pay social security to all our greedy elderly citizens who payed taxes all their life and that helps to subsidize the dog and cat food industry and saves uncle sam a bunch of stamps each month.

Kinda funny, we're such allies, but we don't back them in wars, they don't back us in wars. Then there's that whole Beirut Marine barracks deal.......I don't get it.
