I've had limewire on my pc for over a year and it was working properly. However for the last month, whenever i open it, my pc shuts down!!!! Why is it doing that??

Sounds like a virus or spyware. This is a common but growing problem on limewire. Run the virus guard for deep through scan. Also check for spyware. Also check out the other Q/A here, you'll see the limewire trouble is growing. I would suggest shareaza as its spelled. Any other way and youll have to pay which spells virus. Make sure you have peer guardian 2 thats another good counter measure against easdroping and spyware.

You may have a currupt download that locked up and is not allowing the program to start correctly. Best option is to uninstall and then reinstall. Go into controll panel, select add/remove programs and uninstall limewire.

your comp is infected with some kind of virus or spyware.... kill those quickly or you'll damage your computer...and the reason why it was like that because you downloaded some kind of virus.. always make sure your downloading the right file and always check the size of the file and the type of the file your downloading....and make sure it's not a small size that hold virus ....it's easy to get virus in your computer if you download music or files from other people.....it's never safe just slow down what your downloading and check the files...well good luck....and yeah if you can't stop the comp from dieing then just reboot your computer....that should do the job for sure!!!!!but stinks that you have to reinstalled all programs.....yep goodluck..

A friend of mine is a computer wiz and he said limewire is very bad! It has lots of viruses and bugs and it's also the easiest music downloader that can be tracked for downloading illegally. I reccomend you just take it off your computer!

probably full of spy and adaware and mabbe a virus, download free adaware and spybot that should do it, and make sure your antivirus is updated, good free one are avast and avg, and download ccleaner, run check for problems and delete them and clean out all the old jund stored that you do not need anymore it is free also run them all at least once a week, than if you still choose to uninstall limewire and redownload and install it.

You're probably downloading illegal crap and getting viruses and spyware. I bet your computer is overloaded with that crap. Go download Avast! Antivirus and Ad-Aware SE Personal and remove all your spyware/malware/adware/viruses/trojans/worms and whatever else you have...
I just had to do this **** today on some dumbass lady's laptop.

Have you made sure there are no viruses on your PC? I would run a complete system scan for viruses and spyware.

try emptying ur drive too.
