Jacks, look back through history...can you imagine being a graduate in 1939?

or 1929?

1860?

The Dark Ages, the Black Plague, etc.

Mankind has lived and suffered through much more than any of us can imagine- and has ALWAYS overcame adversity. FDR said it very well, "The only thing we have to fear- is FEAR itself"

Now go out and LIVE!

Yes, things are hard in the world we live in today. Yet, everything is relative. The events that happened 5 years ago showed the world that evil does exist, but it also brought out the good in most. When you watched that fateful day go down, did you go home, sit with your family and tell each other how much you loved them?

There will always be times when the worst in human condition is brought out, but behind everything is a lesson to be learned. We are still learning that life is precious, and time is of the essence. Enjoy the good things in life, and use what you have to help others that are truly in need.

We are exposed to so much violence and information through the media. I wonder at times if the world was always bad, but because of the communication age we hear and see more than those people who lived in past centuries.

To think of this world as a nightmare is to accept it as a dream. Given that, yes it is. Consider that dreams are not real and when you wake-up you find yourself in another reality, and the old scarey one disappears.
The question you may ask yourself is, What am I afraid of in this dream and how can it hurt me?

things are that bad...which is why I choose not to watch the news etc. I focus on the good things and just live my life to the fullest. If we're gonna be bombed do you really want to know about it where you can worry about it or do you just wanna live and love? I just pray and focus on Gods' plan for me and trust that He will take care of me and my family etc.

Yes, it really is this bad.

Most of the fault is due to fundamentalist religion. You've got people with 'faith' in their God running around with bombs, land mines, atomic capabilities, and command of armies.

Don't lapse into the fantasy world of trusting in Jesus to save you later. Do whatever you can--write your senator, the newspaper, witness to everyone you know--to bring attention the problems we face and find ways to fix them.

24 hour news channels have a lot to answer for. You are less likely to die violently now than any time in history.
Or as Bobby McFerrin put it " Don't worry, be happy"

it is scary. It is true. All we can do is be the best we know how. Believe that God really is in control and that if we have faith in Him thru Jesus, He will take us to Heaven one day. A day is coming when all believers will disappear to go to Him in the air. Others will be left here in an awful, violent tribulation.
