The truth is, trees are a renewable resource. It is ok to cut down trees in moderation, since over time they'll grow back in different areas. If we don't cut down trees, there'd be an excess of trees.

At the same time, I agree that the world has been cutting down too many trees. Also recycle paper.

There are countries where the trees have been cut down indiscriminately, without replanting. The main reason for this is poverty, either people clearing to plant, or using the trees to make something to sell. These countries now are experiencing marked climate changes, and it will have an effect on global warming. Look into organizations that are studying this, with the purpose of restoring the native plants indigenous to these areas.

Support tree farming operations such as Georgia Pacific etc. ... They grow trees especially for harvesting for paper and building materials then replant more trees as they harvest each crop. This leaves the old growth trees and forest land for future generations to enjoy yet insures that we will have plenty of paper and 2x4's.

By not cutting the existing ones and organised targetted planting of trees every year all over the country. The planted saplings shouls also be looked after till they can sustain by themselves. This is how our ancestors were able to give so many trees to us.
