Makes you wonder how the generations to follow will be.
They say history repeats itself maybe it'll go back to something better.
I'd like to see morals return one day and see people start respecting each other again.

Where there is life there is always hope. Perhaps you are getting older. There is an elaborate quote attributed to Socrates about how shiftless and worthless the youth were in his day and age!
Perhaps you have just passed the gauntlet and now you don't understand the generation behind you. This is a great line from the movie, The Human Stain: "I think people in general are just getting dumber, but more opinionated!" I do agree with that!
I am proud not to be part of the generation that doesn't know how to pull up their pants, tie their shoes, and thinks exposed underwear is a fashion statement! They look socially retarded to me. I just like to get enough material to cover my belly button when I pay full price for a shirt! LOL! If you aren't a grandma and you aren't a misses size, this can be a real problem these days.
In short, each generation shocks the generation before it. The pendulum always swings back though. Give it time.

i'm the younger generation, but also learned not to be naive, cocky, conceited, errogant, etc.
just by one person, or a few doesn't represent the entire generation. many people are just silly and need to grow up.
as a matter of fact, i don't think they ever will.
everything is just given to us.
we don't need to work and relate to the old traditions.
the media has influenced our century and conquered our lives.
i was pretty immature last year, but thinking of it, it's not as bad as seeing some of the 9/11 questions on yahoo.
it's a pity to see people have such horrid thoughts.
as people say, the older you get, the wiser you are.
and i think i'm speaking too old for my age now.
i'm not even 16 yet. sometimes, i do regret living in such a place. i was basically born to the beginning of the rap era.
opinions vary. i don't neccessarily agree that we're hopeless, but since even guys are materialistic now, it's a big change in lifestyle and eventually most americans are going to be homeless and broke.
i got off topic, but just wanted to share my thoughts.
9/11â¥
that was quite an interesting question. i liked the topic of discussion.

I am one of the older people in on yahoo. And I wonder why people want to hang on to old out dated ways. You call it true cultures and I call it stagnate? I am sure you have heard that things have to change to stay the same. Todays world is not like it was in the old times so how can you think that things are going to stay like it was. My dad and mom told me about ridding in horse and wagon because there was not many cars back then and there was lot more horses.
So what that is happening is you have been outdatted and are being replaced with a new faster and smarter model. Just keep doing what ever it is that you do and enjoy yourself. You will get it done the old way and that works just as well as the new ways. Just slower and maybe it is the hard way of doing it. But the Kids will look at it and say that is kewl and then zoom on.

I do not know how old you are and what a sad and unhappy life you lead but I am of the younger generation and let me just say that you base your opinion on somthing so simple and so plain.
Please do not tell me that when you were younger you too were also not an idiot and people did not see you as ignorant. Just rember that you were young too and that you also did stupid things. There is nothing wrong with the new generation, we are still evolving and learning and well maybe if you were not so narror minded you woul take a minute and think back of when you were young. And just because we are not bought up the same as you were or do the same things does not mean that are generation is doomed.

SORRY I DO NOT think that they are hopeless, just lost in a world of personal confusion, and all that they hear and see in the people that they idolize are the roads to even greater confusion. Think about it guns, drugs, alcohol, close that leave not a thing to the imagination, both male and female .If there is 10 in a 1000 that can grow out, around, through or even past the mess that this world sets before them then there is always hope.Never stop hoping.if you do then you stop believing.and then you stop having faith, and then you have nothing.

Every generation thought that of the next generation. Consider the flower power years of the sixties.
Each generation has more to learn than the previous. When I was young, the volume of knowledge was was doubling every 6-8 years. Today, it is doubling every 6 months. Our understanding of history is ever expanding, learning new things about events even hundreds of years ago. We often hear about how our revolution was not at beset by terrorism as is currently happening in Iraq, but in its own right, it was just as bad.
These are facts that we didn't learn in school, but that they are learning new. We didn't learn about the contributions of ex-slaves to both the revolution and the civil wars.
There is so much more that today's kids have to learn and deal with. Yes, we had to the threat of Russia throwing nuclear missiles at us, but today's generation has the threat of hand held nuclear bombs brought into their home towns. We had to worry about polio, but they have to worry about AIDS.
One thing to remember about the questions is those most likely to have access to the Internet. It is not yet a good sampling of our society as a whole.

Young people blaming old people, old people blaming even older people. The media feeding all the TV-zombies their daily dose of garbage and empty moral-less sh*tcoms. I don't think the younger generation is hopeless. I think that if they will stop filling their minds with that junk and start to take some responsibility for their actions (drugs, sex, babies, drinking, etc) we would all start to see an incredible change. No generation is going to be perfect. We are all stupid in some area. God gave us all talents and we need to use them instead of hiding in a cubicle and playing tetris....

Who told younger gen is hopeless. They are the future of the world-how can it be so? By a few people saying so doesn't confirm it, it is only their view-point, don't take it seriously. Maybe in their view some youngsters may have gone astray, but they can be educated and brought back to the mainstream.Relax !

Generally speaking, I wouldn't say that this young generation is hopeless. It all depends on which side of the spectrum you are looking. In every generation there are a people of hope; especially in this latter day generation. Give it another ten years, I believe and if you are still around, you will retract your statement.
