Theisman is an arrogant twit, and Kornheiser probably offends him because he actually knows a thing or two about sports. Theisman also is used to working in a two man booth, and working in a three man booth is not letting him enjoy the sound of his own voice as much as he is used to.
However it turns out, no way can it be worse than the Dennis Miller experiment.

Because Theisman has always been a douche bag. Back in college, in the pros, as an announcer, he's always been an arrogant ***.
I was shocked he got the MNF gig more than Kornheiser.
I think Tony is funny, he says regular guy things, he's smart and knows the sports world in general.

SEAWAGUY is right about Theismann being arrogant, but he's incorrect in saying that Theismann is used to working in a two man booth. He was working with Mike Patrick and Paul Maguire in a 3man booth for 10 or more years with ESPN.
The problem is that both of them are arrogant twits. It just so happens that Theismann is FAR more knowledgeable about football than Kornheiser. That's why Theismann "talks down" to Kornheiser.
Kornheiser doesn't seem to have alot of in-depth knowledge of the game, and isn't shy about saying he doesn't enjoy talking to most athletes. It was a bad idea from the beginning. Mike Tirico is the only good thing happening in that booth.

Besides being arrogant twits who now share the same broadcast booth, Kornheiser wrote less than complimentary things about Theismann when the former was a young arrogant twit writing columns for the Washington Post and the latter was a young arrogant twit throwing footballs for the Washington Redskins.

I don't really like Theisman, but I can't stand Kornheiser. I wish they kept the same crew they had last year...

Theisman is used to a three man booth.
But Joe is a good commentator who is pretty full of himself. My wife and I used to shout "shut up, joe!" at the tv with great glee -- migod he goes on and on.
And tony? he seems pretty rock solid to me.
