I was asked this questions today, it's the first time in my 36 years of existance that I heard this phrase. I did not know how to answer but other women in our group answered yes (those that identified as lesbians. I kinda felt left out.). I guess I should take question into consideration.

Hi, I'm a guy and you don't want one of these things. They've got a mind of their own, lol! They also take a lot of time and maintenance. Not worth it. There's some type of apparatus you can buy that you strap on that might be fun for you to try. I don't say that to be gross or insensitive, but that Sunday night Sex Talk show lady was talking about it (I think she is a professional therapist) and seemed to think that it is a very good prop/tool for women. Have fun, good luck, good post.

Penis-Envy is such a simplistic way of thinking about it, and let us not forget a man (Freud) came up with this term. I think that as women we all suffer alittle bit of envy at the privileges afforded to men. I certainly am jealous of their paychecks, they also get to be more sexual liberated seeing as though it is socially acceptable for a man to experiment sexually as much as he wishes. Men are still the more wanted of the two sexes even when we sit down to have children, we want a boy to carry on the name. Woman are not as highly valued, we are considered to be a pain in the *** to raise (because we can get pregnant). If us women are guilty of anything I think it is a basic human impulse to be treated fairly by all of society. We constantly feel the need to prove our worthiness over men and we feel that we have to compete and win in order to show our value to the world. So if I suffer from penis envy this is my version of it. Maybe if society treated me with the same respect and encouragement that men are treated with I wouldn't have anything to be envious of. This is a basic human emotion and even though it sounds extremely derogatory towards women, I say we claim it and make it our own. I suffer from penis envy and my name is Fairy. If men would treat me as an equal, I would no longer be jealous of what they have.

Penis-envy was something from Freud's work. Basically it's the idea that women desire to have a penis because of the privilege it gives them in society. His work in this area was completely biased and wrong because of his choice of patients. Anymore it's just used whenever people think it fits the situation by those few people that actually believe in his work in this area.

Oh, and nope. As a transsexual and a bi woman, I've spent years wanting to get rid of mine!

Nope, quite happy with me as me.

FYI, penis envy is sometimes in reference to the power that men have in society - the good old boy work place thing. I don't envy them their club, but the inequity can really piss me off. That's a different story. Anyway, it's usually a chauvinistic slur towards women when used this way.

No, I've never had "penis envy" but I have had penis curiosity. I've often wondered what the difference is in feeling sexual pleasure from having a penis compared to what it feels like experiencing it through the clitoris. I like my equipment and enjoy being a woman and experiencing the heights of sexual pleasure as a womn, but I do confess to wondering what men feel.

No, I can't say that I do...I do like my little plastic vibrator occassionally but I want absolutely NOTHING to do with that one-eyed trouser snake...unless I get to hit it with a hammer (evil otter laugh). My Best Beloved is just the right fit for me. Blessings, my Dear.
