War on Terrorism: 9/11 events

War in Iraq: to control and ensure the oil supply. Many Americans don't realize or know that many years ago Congress passed a law that states we will use military strength to ensure our oil assests around the globe. As this is a national security issue and was one before 9/11 ever came along.

Its why we went to Iraq the first time...not cause Saddam came over the border but cause the oil fields were at risk. It is also why Texan oil companies put out the fires on those wells. They are our wells more or less.

There were two wars in which the US participated since 9/11::
1. Afghanistan
2. Iraq
Right now the wars are over, as much as we can call the war - military actions conducted between state armies.
There is now an internal unrest, which can not be called war, only mutiny, because there is working state administration. But it is possible to grow in civil war.
We don't have war on terror, because the terror is not something on which you can declare war, it's not a state. The terror is feeling of constant fear and treat, and terrorism is act of violence, which aims to instil this feeling, so that it could achieve it goals - political through psychological. But even terrorism is not something against which you can wage war, and USA isn't doing that, because it's also impossible.
So the answer is NO, we are not at war - for now.

Because someone asked a question, but was too lazy to use proper grammar. That caused a misunderstanding, and started a chain reaction that led to GWB thinking there were WMD in Iraq.

Speaking frankly - I think George was still angered about Saddam's assassination attempt on his fathers life. 9/11 gave him a platform to carry out attacks. Afghanistan was an after thought, but mainly he wanted to complete his fathers legacy in Iraq. I think the oil was just a plus to him, not the main objective.
