What Roddick face is Federer, he is really best tennis player in the world.
Although Roddick really make some improvement in this US open, he still far behind Federer. Don't you see that Federer return stroke is stronger again?
That's the reason why Federer can have 17 aces and Roddick only get 7

Whenever Roddick plays Federer, thats the one guy who keeps his aces total low. Federer, besides being the best player in the game, also has one of the top returns. He has great instincts and Roddick will never beat Federer because he needs to win lots of free points on his serve which he can't do against Roger. Still, he did well to finish second. Right now, everyone is playing for second on the tour.

Roddick was trying to put up a fight. With the first 2 sets tied a piece, the third set was going in Roddick's favor until the bathroom break. After they got back from the bathroom break Federer just simply exploded. Rogere took the third and took fourth set with ease. Roddick was just plain simple intimidated by Federer.

1. Federer is a great returner. When a player return your powerful serve consistently, that pretty much means your sharpest fangs are removed. Fed pretty much judged opponents serve by their tosses (he disguises his with consistent heights of tosses), then use the fast reflexes to jump on the first serve. Once he reach that ball, he will return with a cross court/passing shot (if oppoent approches the net) or a drop shot/backhand slice (to slow down baseline players power shot). You can even see Fed jumped back in order to cover more ground against Andy.
However, this art is truly master by Andre Agassi. He was the killer to all the great big serve baseliners like Phillipoussis, Ivanisevic, and several others.
2. Mental game. Once your service game is well read and the power service doesn't give you quick points anymore, you will start to try harder and go into tougher angle or to the corner. On the other hand, these serves are easier to go out of boxes. Once he first services start to crumble, then second serve will soon as well. That was what happened to the third set yesterday.
Well, so far these are the two reasons I can think of.
By the way, there were some powerful first serves from Roddick were hit either out or into the next by Fed. Those are not counted as aces, but still a well earned service points. Sometimes you just can't view number of aces to decide if one's service game is good or not.

Quite simply, Roddick was playing the best male tennis player in the world. Even though Roddick's serve is superb, Federer can return serves as well as anyone. Federer plays every aspect of the game of tennis on a superior level, and he doesn't have any weaknesses. Federer can also elevate his level of play when he needs to, and that's what he did in the US Open finals against Roddick!

Plz understand this first.Roddick CRACKS under pressure.Evenm if he gets the beest coach in the world he will never again win a grandslam. And uve got to admit that Federer is way better than Roddick and when it comes to finals almost invincible except maybe when Rafael nadal sometimes. And of course Roddick must have been lost in thoughts about the a newspaper headlin e like Lovebirds at Flushing Meadows.(Sharapova)_

How come? Roger Federer has really great return, the only player I know with better one is Andre Agassi... I mean Andy can serve his best but in average game he doesn´t have to face a player with such a return, so he ends up with more aces ;)
