I have a virus on my pc but no virus SW. Everytime I download the SW, the virus blocks it or won't let it run. What should I do? The internet scans do not work. The viruses are Malware.a!zip and W32/Mytob.gen@MM.

Go here: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/download.html and download a CD image. Burn it with Nero on a CD. Reboot from CD. It's a multiboot CD and it has a lot of tools, antivirus included (f-prot, mcAfee, etc. - for DOS!). Scan and clean your partition(s). Eject CD. Reboot!

That's all.

No, do no longer acquire and installation Norton except you intend to eliminate or disable Avira while you're utilising Norton - you should by no skill have 2 energetic anti-virus courses on your laptop with the aid of fact they're going to conflict and reason issues. Sly previous Mole's advice is stable - possibilities are high that Norton can no longer eliminate this yet his advice probable will.

Have you tried burning a virus program onto cd? Possibly from a friend's computer or from your local library, wherever an internet connection is available outside your computer.

If you are still unable to install said software, try booting into safe mode (I cannot give you directions for this off the top of my head unfortunately, you'll have to do some googling), and removing the files manually from there.

Try doing this and then running anti virus s/w

Windows ME and XP utilize a restore utility that backs up selected files automatically to the C:\_Restore folder. This means that an infected file could be stored there as a backup file, and VirusScan will be unable to delete these files. You must disable the System Restore Utility to remove the infected files from the C:\_Restore folder.

WindowsXP
Disabling the System Restore Utility (Windows XP Users)

Right click the My Computer icon on the Desktop and click on Properties.
Click on the System Restore tab.
Put a check mark next to 'Turn off System Restore on All Drives'.

Click the 'OK' button.
You will be prompted to restart the computer. Click Yes.
Note: To re-enable the Restore Utility, follow steps one to five and on step three remove the check mark next to 'Turn off System Restore on All Drives'.

if your viruses software is upgraded ur suppose to be able to delete it with ur antivirus . Enable the system restauration. Disconnect from the net , scan all your drives ,if your software can't delete it (it need to find it) or put it in quarantine, reboot, dont connect uninstall all programs that need the infected files to run, after you re supose to delete your infected file(s)( if you still cant do it, go to 'start, run(execute) Type regedit(you will be in the registry files so delete all keys and folders named exactky as the infected files in making a research in the file tab, retry to uninstall the programs, after retry to delete all infected files use your windows shearch to make sure you deleted all files[dont forget to able searching in the system files and hide ones too) Rescan if it's ok reopen the sys restoration do restore point ...Delete all your previous restore point (maybe you will need to delete some bad keys in the registery files)

First go here:
http://www.trendmicro.com/hc_intro/default.asp

thats an online scanner to get rid of any imediate threats.
Then go and get NOD32 it is in my opinion the BEST antivirus scanner on the market. Its about $40 per year and worth every penny.

PS: Please dont go and get Macafee, that is a terrible program.
