To be perfectly honest, my Dear One, I think religion screws things up. Faith itself is a great lifter of spirit but religions tend to have the bad habit of killing those who don't belong to it (and some of those who do...sigh) I left organized religion behind a couple of decades ago and decided to make my faith like that of a little childs. It's worked for me. Thanks for not dumping on us Happy people. So many religious questioners tend to do. Blessings.

Although I am personally not religious at all, religion does impose on me a lot from other sources. I live in a very conservative place (we've got 35 churches for 12000 people) Everywhere I go I'm surrounded by judgemental "christians". The biggest way religion imposes on my life is through my parents, because they have made my life so much harder than it should be. I got kicked out of my house 4 months ago because they found out that I am gay. Right now I have no respect for religion because it has unnessessarily made my life difficult.

Religion has always imposed and never enhanced anyone's life. However; a spiritual relationship with God through Jesus Christ has not imposed and has enhanced people's lives and continues. Many people are turn off from the Bible and those who call themselves Christians based upon religious dogma; that have nothing to do with a relationship with God. On a personal note: becoming a g0y, has been very enhancing because the realization of the true scriptures; and not a religious base dogma.

I'm all in favor of someone believing in something that enhances their life and gives them some focus and perspective. I don't like it when one religion bad mouths another or preaches hatred or intolerance. World would be a better place if we all were a little more patient and less judgemental about each other. Good post.

just noticed the category, I'm straight so hope it's okay that I answered the question. didn't mean to upset your poll.

Both. I myself am a Christian and I feel my life is better since I became one.
I'm also gay and understand why so many of you said 'impose.' I sincerely hope you guys don't think that all of us are bigoted, hateful people. Some of us actually try to love everyone without reservation or judgment. It's just a shame that the people who are the most outspoken also seem to be the most judgmental.

Well that calls for a subjective opinion...
MY religious belief enhances my life but then again I don't use it to cast judgements on others nor attempt to convert them to my way of belief. As for others who use their religion as a weapon to attack others or as an AmWay salesman trying to constantly recruit it imposes on my life to a great degree.

Hi God. How are you? I'm agnostic. If heaven is a place where bible thumping narrow prejudice preaching fools don't go, I might still want in. Will you grant me a waiver even though I don't believe much in that book of theirs?

Oh, right, answer the Q - Religion imposes itself on every American, not just LGBT. Shiit, how do you thing we ended up with that evil idiot sittin' in the whitehouse!

I will say neither.

I'm blessed to be alive on this Earth as an Orthodox Christian. I will judge no one and I am in this forum merely to share my love for all mankind, gay or straight. I will not impose my religious views on anyone but I am always willing to discuss them with anyone who is interested.
