Are you kidding?

There's been wild cattle for millions of years.

Maybe during the ice age when animals and food was scarce our predecessors hit on the idea of keeping some cattle and milking them, rather than killing them and making them more scarce.

Once you start keeping them, you notice that some produce more milk than others. So, you slaughter the bad producers and eat them, while the good producers are allowed to breed and spread their high milk yield genes.

Over thousands of years, selection for milk and meat yield would have inadvertantly produced different varieties. You might then notice that the all black ones produce lots of meat, while the black and white ones produce plenty of milk. So, you breed them separately.

That's how you get the different breeds.

The first account of a modern cow (bovinas modernis) is believed to be attributed to Monsieur Frederic Bovinee of France.

He developed the cow as a result of having cravings for a milk shake, nachos and a cheeseburger. He wanted to invent a single source for all three. Enter the cow.

He had many failures before perfecting his final version--Bovine 6.0, which he introduced to the general public at the World's Fair in 1873.

The creation was dubbed "cow" by an American passerby (George S. Flugle) who attended the fair and upon seeing the extraordinary gizmo exclaimed, "Holy Cow!". The rest, as they say, is history.

The cow has remained virtually unchanged until the last decade when scientists embarked on developing a low-fat, low-cholesterol upgraded version that doesn't cause colon cancer when consumed.

They're still working on that one.

Nobody invented the cow. It is the consequence of billions of years of nonrandom cumulative selection.

If this was another attempt to play "Cheerleader for God" please return to the religion section. If this was an attempt at a humorous question, it failed udderly.
