my friend is getting married to one, and he seems to controlling, is it just him?

i studied for a semester in morocco. while i was there i found a lot of the male students to be very controlling of their girlfriends. now, i don't mean to stereotype all moroccan men; obviously there are many that are very good. but from what i saw, i would have to say that they are, on average, more controlling than western men. Many of the female exchange students had bad experiences with the males. My roomate (a moroccan) was dating an exchange student and was very domineering towards her. This being said, I don't think that means anything to your situation. Every person should be judged on their own characteristics, not on how people from their culture generally act. I had a great time in morocco and made a lot of friends, but it is a very different culture with different expectations of women. But don't judge this man on this! Get to know him!

There are good men and bad men everywhere. If your friend got a dud, it has nothing to do with being from Morocco.

perhaps, you should try to ask the wives. If you cant find any to talk to that would probably be an answer in itself. Otherwise people are people, I don't think location of birth has much to do with behavior.
