If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream -- and not make dreams your master;
If you can think -- and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings -- nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run --
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And -- which is more -- you'll be a Man, my son!

I think, more often than not, people use the concept of "destiny", or more correctly "pre-destination", as a means to rationalize self destructive behavior. By way of example, "If I'm destined to die from lung cancer, I will, so what difference does it make if I smoke tobacco or not?"
To an extent, we can try to shape our destiny, sometimes being successful at doing so, but failing, more often than not. However, in the final analysis, it is impossible to know how much of our lives was destiny or a product of our efforts to shape that destiny.
It is another of those questions that will never be answered in life. Only our dying will tell.

it is possible to do what you are supposed to do by your destiny long as we have free will then we can also make excuses for not doing it, but I think that you would end up doing just what you are created to do no matter what.

Since it looks like yer takin' my picture ,.... I'll smile . :o)
On to the destiny question: Its just a simple belief of mine that we are pre-destined to do some things while here on Earth.I think we do that whether we like it or not. I suppose some of us do make excuses,I've felt destined to do a few things , and it seems as though I paid a heavy price for not doing whatever it was to begin with.

I think destiny can be accurately defined as "whatever ends up happening." And obviously, something always happens. Whatever it is that happens is the destiny of yesterday.
Your question might imply whether some god has some sort of master plan for us.. that I don't believe.
