Many of these children have undiagnosed gender nonconformity when very young and are influenced to be attracted to same gender as some of the side effects of having an undiagnosed and untreated gender nonconformity. They seek treatment after years of having no treatments for their mental situation they have from the gender nonconformity. They think that some hormonal influence plays a role in forming a gender nonconformity. There are children that form characteristics that cause them to have a gender nonconformity though.

The hormonal influence gender nonconformity may be what causes one to want to be or feel they are the opposite gender that what they was born as. It is a separate issue than homosexuality. Any child can be influenced to become attracted to same gender. I believe that the children with a hormonal imbalance that make them feel they should have been the opposite gender born and then because they are influenced by a homosexual act of some sort with same gender and do not form an atraction to the same gender, well these people are the ones that seek sexual reassignment surgery.

There are a few with hormonal influenced gender nonconformity people that do seek sexual reassignment surgery and had formed a sexual attraction on opposite gender of what they was born, they had chosen heterosexual and never homosexual.

Well because those "men" have been born in female bodies and want to be the men they are. Vice versa for the M2F transsexual.

Want is probably not a good choice of description though. No true transsexual WANTS to be transsexual. It is something we have no choice at all about. What we want is a fair chance to live a normal or near normal life, we have as little capacity to force ourselves to fight our transsexuality as the rest of you have imagining what it would be like to go through a sex change process. Imagine that intensity of identification as to who you you are but put that intensity in the wrong body ... then you might begin to understand why we go through this despite any rationale or irrational arguements against.

Why this happens to anyone is not clear but there is definitely preliminary biological evidence that it IS an inborn problem with a biological basis and not just a whim or fancy of the individual.

There is more than a modicum of information about all of this on the internet if you are genuinely interested. However, most people asking this question are not interested and simply airing their bigotries to make themselves feel better about their own inadequacies in life.

Because their mind isn't a man's mind. It's a woman's mind. I think I've burnt myself out answering this question waaay too many times, so I'll just second mystic_stranger's link. Definately read it. And it's not as long as he makes it seem.

I guess a basic explanation is that our mind is the opposite of our body. Because most people don't look past the physical, we're expected to live a life matching what our genitals are. This pretending to be someone we don't feel that we are is really hurtful to us, so we change our bodies to the other side and live a life that matches our true self.

What's the alternative? A lifetime of depression and despair? It's just simpler to change the body if one is ts. Granted, the whole process takes years and isn't cheap. But eventually you'd become the same gender on the outside as you are on the inside.

Sadly, Satan has spawned confusion in a man's mind that he was meant to be a woman. Just because a man is born with female characteristics, doctors decided that the man should have been a woman and the man results in spending lots of money on surgeries and hormonal injections to transform himself into a woman.
