I think it's possible, but unlikely.
It's too easily grown for the government to regulate it. You know it's all about the Benjamins when it comes to the government!
Personally, I think if it were sold in pill form, it would be easier to regulate & tax. The pill-form would also reduce risk of lung/throat/mouth cancer & second-hand smoke. ((which are also caused by smoking cigarettes, the legal drug)) They could even 'clean it up' to make it more pure and less hazardous, which would be more than they do with cigarettes! The Gov. could generate enough money to get us out of the deficit.
Wouldn't it be a lot easier to just legalize marijuana use?
Just ask your Doctor, which is most harmful of cigarettes, alcohol, and/or marijuana. Then ask your congressmen why pot is illegal while other, more harmful substances, are completely legal!
Nicotine addiction is compared to heroin addiction, and is definitely THE gateway drug! ((yet perfectly legal))
I've never had an addiction to anything but cigs which are readily available and again, LEGAL!
Did you know that humans, naturally, have THC hormones and that people of ethnicity have higher levels? The normal levels are low, but could cause a false-positive on a drug screen.
This is one of those World Wonders bcuz it has so many uses. It can be used for fuel, paper, in making clothing, shoes, jewelry, shampoos and lotions, and MANY medicinal ailments.... it would just be stupid not to legalize it like any other plant growing on earth is legal...and free!

No or not in a long time. In my humble opinion I think the biggest problem with marijuana being legalized is its identity with the drug culture. Law enforcement and the decision makers of this country look at marijuana as part of that culture. People wrapped up in the drug culture do not see this problem with it being legalized because they can not see their own problem. Its no longer a matter of which is worse, booze or smoking pot, or smoking a cigarette or pot. We all know today that all four of them are bad for you so that argument is meaningless, so why add another? The important questions to ask here is: Do we want another potently harmful vice legalized? Do we want to drive down the streets and see our teen children smoking a joint instead of cigarettes? Does our society really need this added to another huge list of social problems? Does any responsible adult really want to say yes to your question?

I highly doubt it and yet it amazes me when doctors say they are not in favour of legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes because it is a narcotic. What are Demerol, morphine, Oxycontin if not narcotics. Seems like the bottom line is always how much money the pharmaceutical companies make from the sale of their narcotics.

I think they will, only if they can find a way to quickily and cheaply test consumption in the field like they do with alcohol. That way the gov't can regulate usage, fine for over-consumption, and tax the sale of pot.

they should, however.
the effects of weed are so much less debilitating than alcohol ...
