Hindi is the language spoken in some parts of India called north India and there are several languages spoken in India, they are Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam. if north Indian rulers impose Hindi on other people living in north east, south and western parts of India, naturally, it is disliked or opposed.language has nothing to do with professional courses like engineering

I dont think Indians dislike speaking in hindi but it is really a sad thing that several Indians are not aware of hindi language nor do make an effort to do so. Beside their local language, each ethnic group should make an effort to learn hindi because if we do not respect our mother tongue no one will. You can read different hindi articles on Shabdnagari.

Hindi is not the only language spoken in India. India is a melting pot of different cultures and belief systems and languages. Under the British the English language became the common language that all indians could converse with. Also the British, in their wisdom, introduced a British education system and anyone lucky enough, was taught in English.

In the UK its doubtful whether they'd run a whole course in Hindi.

I would imagine you'd have to find a course in India. Even in India they may teach the course in English thinking that most of the students are going to be working in English speaking areas or countries, or there may not be many Engingeering text books written in Hindi.

My dance Guru speaks fluent Hindi but she studied Engineering in English.

Your question applies to teenagers who mostly face identity crises.i used to be ashamed of my own native language i.e.Malay but now am no longer so.But I think Hindi is now losing its original flavour esp. in Bollywood where Hindi is blended with English. by those beautiful and handsome Indian actors.

That's Because most Indians tend to think that anything Western is better. This concept of people who can speak good English being more upmarket or better in someway is deeply ingrained in Indian Society

you forgot to tell us where do you live !
probably in India ..maybe engineering is something teached by docent who may have studied elsewhere ...but possibly hindi being full of nuances could be misleading for a logical subject such as engineering

Not being rude but either learn to speak English first or go to India and study. It's really too early in the morning to 'go off on one' so deep breath, count to ten, breathe out and send. lol.
