My husband and I moved to the DFW area from California 2 years ago...Mainly because it is much, much more affordable. The people here are also much nicer and more down to earth. The weather is hot during the summer, but not unbearable. There are so many different parts to live in...I would reccomend staying North...Such as North Richland Hills, Keller, Grapevine, Colleyville, Plano, Bedford, Hurst....Stay away from Arlington, Some parts of Dallas, and some parts of Fort Worth (If you are moving to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area that is).
Beware...Texans are very proud!! Good luck with your move.

I lived in Southern California for 40 years before I moved to Texas. DFW area has a variety of choices - Irving - Las Colinas Downtown Dallas is very much like Orange County. The outer areas are have the southern charm you only read about in CA. Walk into a grocery store and people say hello and ask how you are doing. It is a change but from my experience I am now finally at home in Texas and would not move back to CA for anything.

Well expect changes in weather a lot. lol One day it will be cold the next you pull out your shorts. Cali has cold nights or cold breezes in summer whereas Texas will occasaionally. When it gets hot its HOT when it gets cold its COLD. We have all of the seans you just never know when they are going to happen.lol People are sooo much nicer and the driving is a little better than in Cali though the raffic is much better than Cali but we do still have rush hours and so on in Cali its worse.

It's great here in Texas, Austin for me, moved here from San Bernardino Ca or as we call it (San Berghetto). Less expensive, less crime. nicer people, less smog and the weather is not that bad, it's a little more humid but my skin and throat like the humidity better then being all dried up. If you are looking to move here I can help.

I lived at both places. You'll hate Texas weather when compared to Calif. It is much more inexpensive though. You get better deals from homes to gas.
I don't know if you care but Texas is politically a "red" state as opposed to calif, a "blue" state.

The people are nicer, more credible and normal.
Less flashy and less jet set, but there is a lot of good attitude.
People around Dalas for example, have great work ethics.
Up north arround Lake Texarcana, it gets weird, however.

i never lived in CA, I'm a native TEXAN. Whoo! Hoo!
THe differences, We eat a lot of TEX MEX food. tacos, burritoes, refried beans, greasy, spicy, ground hamburger. Here in Dallas, you are a LONG way from the beach. The Heat is horrible, we winters are nice.
