I don't know anyone who died on the planes, but I had a girlfriend in Connecticut at the time, and since it was her country, her people who were being attacked, and I had come to consider America my home away from home, 9/11 hit me pretty hard emotionally.
Aside from watching the north tower falling on TV, the one moment I will never forget is a report Paula Zahn gave later that day. She was interviewing people who were frantically trying to find lost ones feared killed in the collapse of the towers, and you could hear it in her voice--the sheer anguish of the people was getting to her, and she was literally near tears. I wished I could just reach over through the TV set and give her a hug and say, "Hang in there. We all love you." When she finished her report, her anchor remarked for our benefit, "We in the media are trained to be indifferent, but we're not inhuman." That's a heartwrenching moment that I'll never forget as long as I live.

The saddest part to me was,I had just got back from taking my son to school ,was going to go to work at 2 pm and had worked till 12 am The 10th and was going to lay back down and get a little more sleep, And the phone rung and a friend was on the other end and he said turn on the TV,I did and all i saw was black smoke rising. I jumped out of bed and ran to the living room in shear shock.I taped it the whole thing.I was so scared and felt so alone, I cried for weeks knowing what was going on,I went and got my son from school that day. I am sad and sickened by it all.But the people in power knew about this and done nothing. To me that is the saddest. What a waste of life and for what?God bless all of those who lost loved ones on 9/11 2001

The saddest thing about 9/11 is obviously the impact of the sudden loss of life, and the profound impact in the changes of peoples lives as a result of that day.I've heard some say in The midwest it hasn't affected them at all. They are na'ive.9/11/2001 has changed the world, and will have a profound change of everyone living on this planet.

To me the saddest part is that all the people in the 2nd tower did not have to die. They were told the building was secure and to return to their office. If they would've just left, they would all still be alive today... No thankfully, I had no loved ones nor knew anyone who did...

Saddest part for me was watching the Towers fall... I remember leaving class cuz I was so disturbed by it...
I hardly ever cry but I couldnt help it... just knowing there were SO many people in those building made me so sick to my stomach to watch... Ive never felt so helpless...
Makes me wish I was a firefighter during that... I would have helped them to the end... all those poor people...
I'll never forget those images of seeing it live on TV...

A lot of people had loved ones on those flights. That's too obvious of a question. And I believe that that's truly the saddest part... Don't you think?
