Absence of Light is called darkness.

Plants adapt to light conditions through phototropism. They can actually move their leaves to follow the sun. Other plants use another adaptation, to hide their leaves from the sun, but they unfurl their leaves at night. These are also night blooming plants.
Interesting adaptations, and surprising when you first encounter them as we don't normally think of plants as being able to move. But when you watch their actions on speeded up video, it is remarkable just how mobile they are, and it is usually triggered by light and dark.
