On September 7th Anna Nicole gave birth to a healthy 6 pound, 9 ounce baby girl. Her son Daniel was in the Bahamas with her to share in the joy of his baby sister when he passed away suddenly on the morning of September 10th. We have yet to learn the cause of death but do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor.

Anna Nicole is absolutely devastated by the loss of her son. He was her pride and joy and an amazing human being. Please do not make any press enquiries at this time so that Anna Nicole can grieve in peace."....tests have determined that he was not on drugs or alcohol, but there are no other released results on autopsy just yet.

An autopsy was performed Monday. On Tuesday, Her Majesty's Coroner Linda P. Virgill said that based on preliminary findings, "the cause of death is not natural." But, she said, "we wish to reserve [announcing] the cause of death at this time," adding that a toxicology results and a full autopsy report will be released by the end of the week.

Virgill said an inquest will take place afterward and her staff will interview all "relevant witnesses," including Anna Nicole Smith, hospital workers and flight attendants, to develop an official timeline.

The coroner's statements came in the wake of a story in the Nassau Guardian that Daniel Smith suffered a "massive heart attack" and that antidepressants had been found in his system. The newspaper said that Daniel was seen "vomiting uncontrollably" shortly before his death.

Police on Tuesday sought to downplay the Guardian report.

he was found dead on a hospital room

Anna Nicole Smith's 20-year-old son died suddenly at her bedside in a Bahamian hospital where the former Playboy Playmate was recovering from the birth of a daughter, police said on Monday.

Daniel Smith was found sitting upright in a chair in his mother's room at the private Doctors Hospital in the Bahamian capital of Nassau early on Sunday and could not be revived, police said. There were no signs of trauma on his body and no sign of a struggle in the room, police said.

Daniel had flown to Nassau on Saturday to see his 38-year-old mother, who had checked into the hospital under an assumed name and delivered a healthy baby girl by Caesarean section on Thursday.

An autopsy was being performed at nearby Prince Margaret Hospital, according to assistant police commissioner Reginald Ferguson. He said police had not ruled out any cause of death and were still awaiting the pathologist's report.

"It would not be wise for police to try and come to a conclusion before we have a proper investigation," Ferguson said.

Smith's lawyer, Howard K. Stern, said he did not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor.

"Anna Nicole is absolutely devastated by the loss of her son. He was her pride and joy and an amazing human being," Stern said in a news release.

Reached by phone, Stern declined to give any details about Daniel's death. Daniel appeared in "The Anna Nicole Show," a reality TV series that aired on the E! cable channel.

The identity of the newborn's father was not disclosed. The baby was in another part of the hospital when Daniel was found dead, investigators said.

The autopsy results will be released in a few days, but two possibilities come to mind.

1)He had just had a long plane flight and had gotten up and walked for a period of time. That is the classic setup for pulmonary embolus, as the thrombus formed in the leg is jarred loose and travels to the lungs. Can happen at any age.

2) Drugs. He was young, and travelled in show biz circles where access to drugs is rife.

A distant third would be sudden cardiac death of some sort, congenital or arrythmic event.

I heard that he died. All that is being said is that no drugs or booze are involved.

How sad for Anna Nicole, to gain a daughter and loose a son.

so far they aren't saying. All they will say is there were no drugs or alcohol involved. It's hard to tell, what went through that poor kid's head every day knowing that she was his mom. ( I have the same problem.) My mom's looney too.

He died a few days after she gave birth to a baby girl. He was visiting her in the Bahamas where she gave birth. Somehow he passed away sitting up.

Massive heart attack. I say drugs were invovled, when parents have millions kids get what they want for so long then have it all and go looking for more exciting stuff and things to do, which invovle drugs.
