Ummm...

- I am looked down upon by some people in my city. Not blatant comments or anything. Just stares, wierd looks, offensive remarks, glares. I wear the hijab and i'm a muslim which seems to automatically equal terrorist to ignorant people.

- I've always loved NYC and now i know that if i went to live there, my life would be hell due to the hate that exists. My cousin lives there and not a day goes by where she isn't insulted or having something thrown at her head. People have told her to go back where she came from, ect.. Wierd considering she's from Canada and can probably speak English better than them.

- Thousands of people in Iraq, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Israel, and Palestine have been getting killed. I have sympathy for all those who died when they weren't even in battle and just civilians and woman and children. It's horrible.

- Islam's reputation was tarnished by the actions of a select few.

- My neighbors don't treat me the same to a great extent. Kind of like this fear that even though i've lived here for 8 years now, i might blow them up or something. It hurts...

Straight-up.... 9/11 made my life hell...

Well I suppose since I had a child 1 year later it affected my life even more. Worry about planes, public transit, tunnels and bridges. Live next to NYC and love the place, but nervous. I think about taking my child somewhere rural to keep her safe.

I never look at an airplane without thinking about it. When I hear test signals on radio or TV I get concerned that something has happened.

I am an easy going person, but 911 changed my life forever. I now feel afraid of being attacked on American soil.

I also have a new found respect for our firefighters and police. I think we could have done so much with the good that happened at the time, but we were led so very far astray.

It influenced my decision to join the army, that's for sure. I was thinking and thinking about joining the Army or Marines, but I was just lolly gagging through life, letting life pass me by. Then I saw a reason more than myself when it came to the military. I first walked into the recruiting station in November 2001, and there were so many people joining, I didn't ship out for basic training until May 2002.

It put a flag up for me to remind how crazy some people are, and that you can't trust everyone. Pretty sad, but true.
