Never lost child or spouse, but dealing with job loss, the best remedy is to get out there and get looking right away. Not only does it help your attitude (nothing gets you over most mental problems like taking action on the root cause), employers are impressed by it.
I suspect that the same goes for losing people like that. It's okay to grieve. But they wouldn't want you to spend your life on it. I've made it clear to my wife that if anything happens to me, I want her to be happy - even if she meets someone right away. One of the few things that would be worse than dying would be the thought that my wife might not feel like she should be happy for the rest of her life.
If you're a religious person, it might be a good idea to talk to a clergy member. If not, you need a friend or someone to help. Please get someone.
